Artemios (‘Demis’) Ventouris Roussos was born in Alexandria, Egypt on June 15, 1946.

After leaving Egypt in 1961 he formed bands like The Idols and We Five, before teaming up with Vangelis Papathanassiou and Loukas Sideras forming Aphrodite’s Child in 1967. In 1968 they travelled to Paris and were signed to Mercury for a three album deal. From 1968 to 1971 they created worldwide hits with a.o. RAIN AND TEARS, END OF THE WORLD, I WANT TO LIVE, MARIE JOLIE, IT’S FIVE O’CLOCK and SPRING SUMMER WINTER AND FALL. While Vangelis was finishing mixing the last  album 666  Demis made his first solo album ON THE GREEK SIDE OF MY MIND, released in 1971. The single WE SHALL DANCE became his first solohit. His second album FOREVER AND EVER was released in 1973, selling 12 million copies. It includes signature songs like FOREVER AND EVER, MY FRIEND THE WIND, VELVET MORNINGS, GOODBYE MY LOVE GOODBYE and MY REASON, all major hits worldwide.

Demis recorded another 5 albums before being reunited with Vangelis who produced his MAGIC album in 1977, resulting in his biggest French hit MOURIR AUPRES DE MON AMOUR. In Spanish, Portugese, Italian and English versions it became a worldwide hit.

After his contract with Philips was over Demis started recording for BR Music, resulting in albums like GREATER LOVE (gold), THE STORY OF(multiple platinum) THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM (multiple gold), VOICE AND VISION (gold), INSIGHT, IN HOLLAND, IMMORTEL and SERENADE.

Demis Roussos passed away in the morning of the 25th of January 2015, only 68 years old.
